Central AsiaCentral Asia is comprised of five independent countries that formerly belonged to the USSR: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. The population of about 61.3 million people is made up of over 100 people groups. The year 1990 marked the beginning of a spiritual awakening among the people of Central Asia, and many churches were established. But with this awakening has come opposition and persecution from relatives, religious fundamentalists, and governments. TWR has been preparing radio programs in the languages of this region since 1983. National coworkers have been producing programs locally since 2001, which are broadcast via three powerful transmitters and are also available on the Internet. |
